Call for Artists/Teachers—February 2010

Dear Artist
All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Richland wishes to sponsor an art celebration for the visualarts to take place the winter of 2010.  The purpose of this celebration is to help foster our love of the visual arts, support our local artists, and share visual art with the community.  For these reasons, we are seeking artists to teach art classes for our first annual Art Celebration, a community event focused on the visualarts.  The festival will be held on February 6, 2010.

We are seeking proposals for classes, workshops, demonstrations and other forms of visual art instruction across the spectrum of the visual arts including, but not limited to, painting, fiber, paper, jewelry and photographic arts.  We value your talents, training and experience and anticipate your participation in a program of creative and engaging learning opportunities for our church and community.

  1. We are looking for artists to teach in all mediums to all age ranges.
  2. The Art Celebration will be held at All Saints’ Church where there are classrooms with tables, chairs, and sinks according to the artist's needs.  The church is located 2 blocks west of the Uptown Shopping center in Richland.
  3. Each instructor may set the registration fee required per student, class minimums and maximums, and the suggested skill level.  When setting your fee, please keep in mind that one of the primary goals of All Saints is to balance our desire to make the art experiences financially accessible to the community while making it financially feasible for you to participate.*
  4. All Saints’ will pre-register the students and collect the registration fee.  Be aware that your class may be cancelled if it does not meet your minimum registration number.
  5. Teachers may collect a materials fee for the materials which they will supply or provide a materials list for students to bring.  We respectfully request that the materials fee cover the actual cost of the materials only and that materials not be affiliated with any direct sales company.  Some basic tools such as scissors may already be available in the classrooms.
  6. The All Saints’ Art Celebration committee will handle the publicity and advertisement for the event.
  7. The festival will be from 9 AM to 5 PM with two hour sessions scheduled 9-11, 12-2, and 3-5.  There will be an hour between sessions to allow for change-over of teachers.  During that time, participants may visit the booths of artists selling their art work or eat a snack or a pre-ordered box lunch.  You may request to teach more than one session or have part one and part two sessions.

Please fill out the class proposal form completely.  Please mail the completed form to the address on the letterhead marked “attention:  Arts Celebration."  We may not be able to accept all those who apply because of time and scheduling restraints or because the class you propose does not meet the goals of this event.  You will be contacted by an arts committee representative after we have received your class proposal and have made our class selections.  The deadline to submit your proposal is November 1, 2009.
